Architectural Design
Felt is an excellent material for architectural applications. Sutherland Felt is the nation’s leader in supplying architects, contractors, and designers with industrial wool or custom dyed felt. Wool felt’s sound deadening, acoustical dampening, and aesthetic properties make it an excellent source for architectural applications. Our 100% grey and/or custom dyed felt wool felt has been used in major HQ installations as ceiling and wall covers. Many types of felt can be used for these types of applications but wool felt is most prevalent. Because our felt is 100% natural, it is used in many LEED certified projects.
Custom Dyeing
Sutherland Felt Company can custom dye to match any pantone, color chip, or sample. We take our natural (cream/off-white) Australian wool felt (grades F-1, F-5, and F-10), and custom dye in an advanced centrifugal based dyeing tank. Grey wool can also be custom dyed, to create a beautiful heathered grey colored felt. Our lab does an excellent job matching colors, and a lab sample can be produced within just a couple weeks (call a Sutherland Sales rep for details). Sutherland stocks 7 colors of natural wool felt – 60″ wide X 3mm thick. Minimum order for a custom dyed material is only 40 yards.
